YES “Pornography is satanic and must be ended effectively. It breaks the family fibre and corrupts the purity of the mind, as well as the body as a temple of the Holy Spirit.” (Response to Christian Action Network Policy Survey).
NO No response to Christian Action Network Policy Survey request. As some members of COPE were ANC members of Parliament in 1996 when pornography was legalised, it is likely that they voted in favour of the legislation.
YES The Freedom Front voted against the pornography legislation in 1996.
NO EFF – One of the goals of Gramscian or cultural Marxism is to destroy the Biblical, traditional family. Thus, as a Marxist party, it is likely that the EFF would not support legislation to criminalise the production and distribution of pornography.
YES“Pornography is harmful to the social well-being of the individual, the family and society and should therefore be made illegal, as we have an obligation as government to protect from harm.” (Response to Christian Action Network Policy Survey).
REFERENDUM The Cape Party supports a system of direct democracy, where referendums could be held on such issues. Different areas or cantons, such as in Switzerland, could hold a referendum on such an issue. There could be some areas in the proposed independent Cape Republic that do legalise pornography in their area and some that do not, based on the results of the referendum held in that specific area.
