![]() WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE? The task is great and the workers are few ‑ nobody can do everything, but we can all do something and what we can do we must do and what we must do we will do by the grace of God who gave us our life, talents, gifts and opportunities. Here are some suggestions: STUDY THE BIBLE both personally and in a group of like‑minded believers. The objective truth of God's Word must be the inspiration and solid foundation for all our actions. Until we know God's Word we can be easily mislead and deceived. Read through and study every Book of the Bible. PRAY for our country, for parents, pastors, teachers and government officials. Constantly remind your church and prayer group of the urgent needs and Biblical issues for prayer and action. Pray through the Psalms. Join the prayer meeting of your local church, school, or workplace. BE WILLING to be active, make yourself available to Christian Action groups. We need people willing to help with artwork, translations, typing, mailings, literature distribution, hospitality for foreign guests or missionaries, letter writing campaigns, petitions, marches, counselling and other projects. ARRANGE MEETINGS for us at your local school, church women's group and/or youth group and invite one of our speakers to spread the Word and promote the vision.

![]() "I went by the field of the lazy man, and by the vineyard of the man devoid of understanding; and there it was, all overgrown with thorns; its surface was covered with nettles; its stone wall was broken down. When I saw it, I considered it well; I looked on it and received instruction: A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest; so shall your poverty come like a prowler, and your need like an armed man." Proverbs 24:30-34 Crime and Grime If dirt and decay describe your municipality, then it is time to change the mayor and town councilors. Crime and grime go together. "Because of laziness the building decays, and through idleness of hands the house leaks." Ecclesiastes 10: 18 "He who is slothful in his work is a brother to him who is a great destroyer." Proverbs 18:9 "Lest you learn his ways and set a snare for your soul. Do not be one of those who shakes hands in a pledge, one of those who is surety for debts." Proverbs 22:25-26. Foundations for Freedom For communities to be strong, their families need to be strong. For city councils to be good, the citizens need to be good. Those who cannot control themselves are not capable of ruling over a city (Proverbs 16:32). Those who cannot manage their households well are not qualified to lead others (1 Timothy 3:4-5). ![]() On 7 May this year South Africans who have registered to vote will have the responsibility of electing a party to represent their interests in parliament. How you exercise this right and responsibility of voting will have far reaching consequences for almost every area of our lives. “Select capable men from all the people - men who fear God; trustworthy men who hate dishonest gain - and appoint them as officials...” Exodus 18:21 Your Biblical Duty to Vote As responsible citizens, Christians must strive to honour God in all areas of life (Matthew 5:14-20). We are to oppose evil (Isaiah 59) and work for righteousness. Christians therefore have a Biblical duty to vote. “Select capable men from all the people - men who fear God; trustworthy men who hate dishonest gain - and appoint them as officials...” Exodus 18:21 Does your one vote really count? When you do not vote, by default you cast your vote against the person or proposal you would prefer. When you do not vote, that vote is one less the opposition has to overcome, thus your "no vote" is a vote for anti-Christian policies. “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people” Proverbs 14:34 70% of South Africans confess that they believe in God and see themselves as Christians. In 2009, the ANC got 66% and the other parties 34% of the votes. Only 18 million people of the 30 million eligible voters voted. This means that the Christians who did not vote and those who voted for the ANC allowed the pro-abortion, pro-pornography, anti-family ANC to prevail! “Who will rise up for Me against the wicked? Who will make a stand for Me against the workers of iniquity?” Psalm 94:16 ![]() The Need for a Balanced Approach Napoleon declared: “A good general must neither be elated by victory, nor depressed by defeat.” He pointed out that immediately after a victory you are very vulnerable. Your troops are celebrating, drinking and looting, dispersed and disorganised, elated by victory, and therefore very vulnerable to counter attack. For those confronted by defeat, there is no time for depression, but it is the ideal time to re-organise for a counter attack while the victors are distracted by their looting, drinking and celebrating. Right now the enemy is celebrating and we need to be re-organising for counter attack. There is always the danger of victory putting conservatives to sleep. Pro-life and pro-family ministries have pointed out that whenever there has been a Republican/Conservative in the White House, interest in, and support for, conservative causes plummeted. However, their best times for recruiting, mobilising and campaigning has been during the Clinton and Obama eras. Government as Judgement The Bible teaches us that we tend to get the governments we deserve. Throughout the Old Testament, wicked governments are seen as a judgment of God on a wicked population. If we get the governments we deserve, then what does that tell us about our society ![]() “But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the Faith and is worse than an unbeliever.” 1 Timothy 5:8 Fathers and husbands are required by Almighty God to provide for their families. This includes not only providing food, housing, clothing, education, medical care, love, discipleship and spiritual guidance, but also protection. Of what worth is all the other provision if one does not provide protection as well? Anyone who fails to provide for their family has denied the Faith and is worse than an unbeliever. In fact, those who refuse to protect their young are worse than an animal. What animal will not fight to protect its offspring? Our Lord Jesus Christ told His disciples that: “He who has no sword, let him sell his garment and buy one.” Luke 22:36 The Law of God is clear. “If the thief is found breaking in, and he is struck so that he dies, there shall be no guilt for his bloodshed.” Exodus 22:2 ![]() (The men of Sodom) “They called to Lot, ‘Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them’.” Genesis 19:5 “He condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah by burning them to ashes, and made them an example of what is going to happen to the ungodly.” 2 Peter 2:6 “Sodom and Gomorrah . . . gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire.” Jude 7 “Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable.” Leviticus 18:22 “If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death.” Leviticus 20:13 ![]() OPPRESSORS Communists uphold themselves as "liberators" and champions of "justice," yet between 1917 and 1976:
![]() Do you want your child to grow up to make a significant difference in the world for Christ? Who is really discipling your children? By the time your child finishes matric (grade 12) they will have spent over 15 000 hours in school. What worldview and values will they have learnt in that time? As a vital part of the daily practice of "bring(ing) them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord", it will influence their capacity to advance God's Kingdom in the world in general and more specifically through their vocation. State-run education has been the norm in South Africa for so many decades. South Africa's education had, on the whole, been pretty good, albeit humanistic. Our children have learned to read, write and do arithmetic. We have had Bible Education presented in the classroom setting and many schools have started with a hymn, Bible reading and prayer in Assembly. Over the last decade, however, this has all come under threat. Matric exam results are viewed with suspicion. Private Schools, (including Private Christian Schools) are springing up all over and there are now over 100 000 children being homeschooled in South Africa. ![]() Acknowledgement of Almighty God Back to Guide Exodus 20:3 "You shall have no other gods before me."(NIV) 2 Chronicles 7:14 "if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land."(NIV) Psalm 9:17 "The wicked return to the grave, all the nations that forget God." (NIV) Psalm 127:1 "Unless the LORD builds the house, its builders labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain."(NIV) ![]() "Who will rise up for Me against the wicked? Who will take a stand for Me against evil doers?" Psalm 94:16 Some people watch things happen. Some make things happen. Others don't have a clue what happened! Christians are called to action! We are called to love God with all of our heart, mind, soul and strength, and we are to love our neighbour as ourselves. After relating the story of the Good Samaritan, the Lord Jesus commanded us to go and do likewise. We are commanded to rescue those being led away to death, to speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves. To go into the highways and byways to proclaim the Gospel and to win souls for Christ. We are commanded to make disciples of all nations, teaching obedience to all things that the Lord has commanded. To contend for the Faith that was once for all entrusted to the Saints. "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land that I should not destroy it..." Ezekiel 22:30 |
