REFERENDUMThe Cape Party supports a system of direct democracy, where referendums could be held on such issues. Different areas or cantons, such as in Switzerland, could hold a referendum on such an issue. There could be some areas in the proposed independent Cape Republic that supports capital punishment of murderers in the Constitution of their area and some that do not, based on the results of the referendum held in that specific area.
NO"Oppose in its entirety this highly irresponsible motion (referring to the reinstatement of the death penalty)," (ANC Parliamentary speech 19/6/1995)
